Handed over: Diverge Sport Carbon
Let's end the week on a positive note: Konstantin has just received his first carbon frame bike, and he chose Diverge Sport Carbon.
Very reasonable! Why? Because Diverge has been one of the best value gravel bikes since it was launched in 2014. The Diverge was heavily influenced by a top-of-the-range bike called the Roubaix, which, as you know, has won a lot of spring classics.
Since then, however, the Diverge has evolved considerably. Already since 2017, the Divergel FutureShock (today the second generation) provides 20mm of suspension, and not on the front wheel but on the handlebar. This, in turn, eliminates up-and-down oscillation, or energy loss, when riding hard on hills.
In addition, Diverges can be fitted with tyres up to 47mm wide. If you swap the runners for smaller ones (650B), you can use tyres up to 2.1".
Add to that the perfect mudguard mounts, tubeless-ready Pathfinder Pro 42mm soft tyres, the ability to carry up to six (!) water bottles and the super-smooth Power 143mm saddle and you've got a bike built for riding around the world....
... but don't. The Diverg can also be used as a comfortable city bike or a versatile training bike. That's the Diverge - an extremely multifunctional classic.
Happy kilometres, Konstantin! #newbikeday
